Sports Hypnosis for Athletes

Sports Psychology made easy.
Helping Chicago Il. Area Athletes Since 1980

Let me start with an easy question. Do you choke under pressure?
When the game is on the line, is your mind your best friend or your worst enemy? Choking under pressure, slumps, loss of concentration, slow starts, inability to recover after a mistake, unable to do in the game what you do in practice, are all examples of how your own mind can be your worst enemy. I know exactly how to fix that!
The field: sports hypnosis for Chicago athletsHello, I'm Paul S. Palmer, Ph.B. founder and director of the Sports Motivation Clinic and the Palmer Smoking Clinic. I know the SECRETS to getting your mind in the game. I've been helping athletes develop their mental game for thirty years. My program is easy to understand and easy to use. I speak to you in plain language, I have a sense of humor and I know how to help you develop your mental game FAST.
Whether you are a professional athlete or amateur, you need to master your mental game and you found the right place. I help you find your mental game. The zone starts here and the price is right!
At the Sports Motivation Clinic I teach you how to prepare your mind for competition, the moment of truth, crunch time. I don't teach you how to play your sport, I teach you how to develop your mental game. Sports psychology tells us that game time performance can be 95% mental, yet most athletes do little to actually prepare for that moment. Do you know HOW to do that or do you hope your many hours of practice will magically turn you into a clutch performer. The good news. Any athlete can learn how to get their head in the game if they are shown how. I can show you how.

A bit of the Science behind the process

The mind has two important parts that contribute to sports performance the conscious and the subconscious. I trust you have heard of both of them. They are very different! They have different roles to play in your development and success as an athlete. If you don't understand their roles, your game performance will always be a crap shoot. If you slept through science class and can't even spell sighcollogy (psychology), you can still benefit from my program. I keep it simple. Trust me, even a dumb jock can get this stuff. Really!
Conscious  Vs.  Subconscious  OR
The Learning Part  Vs. The Automatic Part
The Conscious Mind, sports psychology you can use.The Conscious mind is what you use anytime you're awake. It's how you learn. A big part of its' job is to pass on information to the automatic part of the brain. That's why you go through endless hours of repetition in the hope that some day the automatic part of the mind will know exactly what to do. With your conscious mind, you can take things apart, analyze, and correct pieces and parts of your physical performance. Some sports spend 98% of their time at practice and physical training. In other words, you spend most of your time in the learning part of the mind. Even if coach tries to make practice hell on earth, it's where you spend most of your time, it's home.
But wait! There is more the conscious mind does for you. It knows if it's a real game or just practice. It's the part of the mind that recognizes that at this very moment the game is on the line! You are up to bat and the success of the entire season rests on your shoulders. If you blow it, you'll be remembered forever as "the choker." As a social pariah, you'll be forced to leave town in the middle of the night, change your name, live in a trailer park and have ugly children. That's what else the conscious part of the mind does for you. Sound familiar?
subconscious mind, sports hypnosis, psychologyThe subconscious mind on the other hand doesn't care about the situation. It's the cool part of the mind. Its' job is not effected by pressure. It is the automatic part of the mind, that handles all the mechanics of your swing, your muscle memory, your hand/eye coordination, your fast twitch muscle response, instantly adjusts to changing situations and it does it all behind the scenes in a split second, without you having to consciously direct it.
Question: Which part of the mind do you want working for you on the next pitch?
The automatic part, of course! Why? Because you can't be in the learning part of the mind during those moments of truth. Do you know how to make that happen? Do you know how to make sure the correct part of the mind is working for you every time it counts? If you don't, then you need to came and see me and the sooner the better. Cause, I help you fix that kind of stuff. And that's only the beginning of what I can do for your game.

Old Hypnotist, sports hypnosis for all athletesDid you say hypnosis?

Yes, I did. Pretty scary stuff, huh? Hypnosis has been around for a few hundred years and yet most people have no clue what it actually is. I'll answer a number of hypnosis questions on my "Why Hypnosis" page but for now lets call the process Mental Imagery or Visualization, or Relaxation Therapy or even Meditation if it makes you feel better. When you begin to understand what these techniques can do for you, you won't care what they're called.
What can this mental mumbo jumbo do for me?
This mental stuff can help you become the best athlete you possibly can become, when it counts! Is that clear enough for you? At crunch time, your mental game is what determines the outcome. Do you have a mental game? The most important athletic muscle is between your ears at game time. If you don't exercise it properly, every day, all your work conditioning and training your body and the best coaching is a waste of time.

What does an office visit cost?

The golfer, fix your golf game fast. For any amateur athlete, a private hypnosis session and your own custom CD, the cost is only $250. Can one session do it? One session can do a lot, but to be honest the reason one session can be so helpful is that most athletes were never told precisely how to develop their mental game. Even one baby step can mean a big improvement in performance. Additional sessions are about honing your mental game and addressing specific parts of your performance. Once you are familiar with the basics the rest is easy. Mental conditioning skills are no different from other skills, they take some practice and there are many levels to challenge even the best athletes. Most clients use the CD very successfully and others work better with periodic office visits.
Pros pay $2500. see: Amateur & Pros

How much time does mental conditioning take?

The mental conditioning process will be the shortest thing you ever did to improve your game. It starts with a visit to my office (1 hour). I explain how the process works, tell you the secrets that make it work, answer all your questions and then take you through the hypnosis (relaxation) and make you a custom CD. The CD is usually 15 minutes. The CD will guide you through the process each day until you can start doing short sessions (5 minutes) on your own. This isn't like physical conditioning and repetitive practice sessions, that can go on for hours. How can these short mental exercises help? The short answer is, you are using techniques to train the mind. Longer is not better, it's the precision of the process not the length of time that's important. You have to know what to do for the mental process to work for you.
Don't take it personal but... I don't want to see you every week, I don't need to see you every week, I don't want to become your shrink. The idea of the CD is to short cut the learning process so you can develop your mental game FAST. I'll guide you. If you are a quick study, practice daily and follow the directions, you can be off and running on your own in no time at all. Clients come back for more because they want more guidance in taking their mental game to the next level. If that's the case, I'm happy to see you again.

My help is always in confidence.

Most of my athletes seek my help and don't want the world to know how they improved their performance. If you wish to pass my name on to other athletes, I'll be eternally grateful but I won't rat you out to your competition or use your success story to advertize my business. One recent example of why I don't advertize who I work with involved two high school teams that went downstate, competed against each other, I worked with both teams. The better team won but their game was the best of the play-offs.

But I don't live in the Chicago Area!

I would prefer to work directly with all my clients, my explanation of the process is priceless. If you can't come to my office, the second best option is to order a Custom CD for the same cost as an office visit. I'll arrange an interview either by phone in the U.S. or e-mail. Amateur athletes only pay $250.        Pros pay $2500.
